AI Process Simulator 1.6.2 for Windows and macOS
Free to download for Windows and the Mac. The Windows installer (about 57 MB) installs for your own account, with no administrator rights; the Mac download (about 115 MB) runs on Intel and Apple-silicon Macs. Both bring 32 sample cases with them.

Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”. That is SmartScreen being cautious about a newly published program. Click More info, then Run anyway, to install.
On a Mac, open the downloaded file and drag AI Process Simulator onto the Applications folder. The first time you open it, macOS may say it cannot open or verify “AI Process Simulator”. That is Gatekeeper being cautious about an app that is not registered with Apple. Close the message, open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, click Open Anyway and confirm. You only need to do this once.
The simulator’s menus open with a right-click: on a Mac trackpad, press with two fingers, or hold Control and click.
Licence and price: version 1.6.2 is free to download and use. For newer releases, contact ruebenm@therqon.ca for pricing.

What is new in 1.6.2
Pumps, compressors and expanders on their own curves
Give a pump, compressor or expander its performance curves – head and efficiency against the actual inlet volume flow, at one speed or several – and it runs on them: its pressure rise or discharge pressure and its efficiency follow its flow, the way HYSYS takes a compressor’s curves. A curve is carried to another speed by the affinity laws, and the Pump Curve and Performance Curve tabs draw the curves with the operating point. A Build with AI plan can give a machine its curves too.
Every view can be sized
Drag any edge of a unit’s or a stream’s view to make it bigger or smaller; a smaller view scrolls rather than squeezing what is in it. Each view keeps its size, and a case saved with views open reopens them as you left them.
All the help in one window
Help > Help Topics opens every help topic in one window laid out like the User’s Guide, the topics grouped by kind and the equipment in the Equipment Palette’s order. The Help menu no longer runs off the screen.
Fixes that change results
A reactor with only one product stream connected now carries its whole outlet, vapour and liquid, where the other phase was lost. DWSIM and COCO imports bring in each pump’s own efficiency, and a DWSIM pump set to an outlet pressure comes in with it.
Also in this release
- Datasheets show their mass flows again
- More DWSIM heat exchangers import cleanly
- Controller lines on the PFD as thick as stream lines
- Results can move from 1.6.1: Solve All on an older case lists every stream that changed
- The validation report runs to 1,138 checks, all passing
